Cox Hallett Wilkinson advises on the formation of Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund

Cox Hallett Wilkinson (“CHW”) has advised Macquarie Group Limited (“Macquarie”) and State Bank of India (“SBI”) in relation to the formation of Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Fund (“MSIF”), a Bermuda-based fund launched to invest in infrastructure projects in India, and MSIF’s initial capital raising of US$1 billion.

The CHW team, led by Jonathan Betts, advised on the Bermuda aspects of the establishment of MSIF as well as applicable corporate and regulatory matters. Mallesons Stephen Jaques acted as Australian legal advisors to MSIF.
Jonathan Betts commented “We are very pleased to have acted as Bermuda legal advisors to Macquarie and SBI and to have assisted with the successful launch of this new fund. MSIF intends to seek further capital during 2009 with a view to raising a total of US$2-3 billion and we look forward to continuing to assist MSIF as it moves forward with the fund raising and investment process”.
