Cox Hallett Wilkinson ("CHW") has advised JP Morgan PLC ("JP Morgan") as arranger for a US$500 million financing for Catlin Group Limited ("Catlin"), the property/casualty insurer and reinsurer. The financing was provided in relation to the recommended US$1.1 billion offer by Catlin to acquire Wellington Underwriting plc, the LSE listed parent company of the Wellington Underwriting group of companies.
Clifford Chance LLP advised JP Morgan on the English law aspects of the financing with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP (UK counsel) and Appleby Spurling Bailhache (Bermuda counsel) advising Catlin.
