CHW's corporate and dispute resolution teams have both been recognised in the recently published "Chambers and Partners 2007 Global Guide to the World's leading lawyers for business" as leading practices in Bermuda.
According to Chambers, market sources perceive the CHW corporate team as having consolidated its position as Bermuda's third firm for both local and cross-border corporate/commercial work and describes its lawyers as tackling M&A, securities, insurance, restructurings, real estate and niche aircraft registration and leasing in an "experienced, commercial and responsive" manner.
Corporate department head, Ernest Morrison, is praised for his "level-headed and sensible" approach whilst fellow partners Julie Stanton and Wendell Hollis are described as "an exceedingly safe pair of hands" and having a "comprehensive knowledge of Bermudian property law and strong negotiating skills", respectively. In addition, Senior Associate, Jonathan Betts is lauded as "delivering a City-level quality of service in corporate and banking and finance matters".
In terms of its dispute resolution practice, Chambers describes CHW as housing a team of lawyers capable of taking on insurance and reinsurance litigation and arbitration, shareholder disputes, insolvencies and contentious trusts with head of department, David Kessaram, receiving particular praise for being "as solid as a rock, especially for insolvency disputes".
